- I made a total of 59 paintings in my life and producedalmost the same number of lithographs and etchings.
- What were your beginnings in art?
- Itook classes, and then I worked as a porcelain painter. I also took nightdrawing classes. Then I studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
- Why did Renoir choose the Impressionist genre?
- BecauseI liked to paint what I saw and not what people wanted.
- Painting for me meant the joy of living, thesearch for beauty and the fascination with nature.
- Of course, If I didn't have fun, I wouldn'tpaint anything.
- Now I understand why they called you the painter ofjoy.
- What did the painting mean to you?
- What was your way of expressing French culturein your work?
- I reflected my fascination with French culture in myworks through the theme of gallants, sensual women, parties on the edge of ajetty, bright tablecloths, and a wine glass.
