  • Well kid, let me show you why. Follow me! 3
  • Hi my name is Bob and Im here in the city of Atlanta. But thats not the point! I am here to teach you about imperialism. Imperialism is when a country extends its power into other territories for economic or political gain. Also, imperialism only first started in 1760 by the Europeans who tried to control the world. 1
  • Well then Bob, why did the US want to become imperialists? Because it seemed like a bad thing of trying to conquer places. 2
  • Well kid, to start with, the US had many reasons for becoming imperialists. For example, the markets benefit, because when you invade a place, you own more people which means you can sell better to people and make more money. Another reason US became imperialists was because of the competition they had. For example, they were in competition with Europe for land which would give them more power. 1
  • Sure kid, let me take you back in time! Follow me! 3
  • Well then, you told me why they did it, but could you show me a real life example of the US showing imperialism? 2
  • But we didn't do anything! We are just innocent Spanish soldiers. Why are you attacking us? I guess we will have to defend ourselves. 2
  • We are the Americans, surrender now or we will conquer your land! 1
  • There you go kid, I have brought you back in time and shown you the time where the US were imperialists and had their journey to westward expansion. They were conquering all of the land in the west even if other people like the Spanish people were already there. Spain would eventually lose and US would claim that land which is now the state of Texas. 3
  • Well thanks for the lesson Bob! 4
