  • The story, The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street, is based on Maple Street in a small American town. The houses are close together so neighbors all know each other. There are families, husbands, wives and children.
  • Climax
  • They are just now realizing that the electricity is out, the telephone lines don't work and no radios work either. This causes a panic between the neighbors. They all come out of their houses and onto the street. Additionally, they hear a loud sound and a flash of light.
  • Falling Action
  • They are starting to realize how serious the situation is. They are starting to get angry and scared. Then Tommy, a child buying ice cream, tells about a story of aliens and spaceships. This worries them even more.
  • Resolution
  • Accusations start to fly and Pete Van Horn, a man who went to the other street to find out what is happening, gets shot by Charlie, one of the neighbors. Charlie shot him with a shotgun because he thought it was someone who posed a threat to them.
  • My goodness!
  • They continue to say accusations, from Steve, Charlie, Don and Mr. Goodman. They walk around making new ideas about who it is and bring up different evidence to support their theories. They continue this for awhile.
  • PETE!
  • It's not me!
  • It's you! Your lights are on!
  • HELP!!
  • As they continue this, more people get mad and they stay in the street. Two figures somewhere else are talking about it, talking about how they will continue to do this multiple times. There goal it to let the people destroy them selves.
  • Let them destroy themselves!
