- In 1803 the U.S. bought the Louisiana Territory from France for 15 million dollars. This doubled the size of the U.S. and brought the U.S. to the borders of Spanish land.
- Filibusters
- we should do this and this but im not going to be a part of it
- Mexico citizens were separated into groups, Peninsulares, Creoles, Mestizos, and Indians.

- We should try to get the independence of Mexico!
- Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a priest living in New Spain, led a revolt among the lower class in the early 1800s. This modern mural in Guanajuato, Mexico, shows him urging Mexicans to break free of Spanish rule, symbolized by chains.

- The people of Mexico will now be treated fairly! Due to the Constitution.
- A filibuster is a person who wages an unofficial war on a country. Filibusters act for their benefit. They do not carry out the plan of any government.

- Jose Bernardo Gutierrez de Lara met another rebel named Augustus Magee. Gutierrez and Magee created the Republican Army of the North and made plans to free Texas and Mexico from Spanish control. These filibusters were working for the independence of Mexico.

- The Constitution of 1824 provided a way for the people of Mexico to be treated fairly and spread the power of the government to many.
