How it affected Pompeii

During a normal day in Pompeii, everyone was at work. Richer people had slaves to work for them. The streets were usually crowded and full of people. People would sell things on the streets. Only very few houses had water.

Underneath the volcano, magma was leaking and there was a lot of pressure on the volcano, causing lots of Earth tremors. Shockingly, the Romans still didn't realise what was happening. Eventually, the pressure was released and the eruption began.

Today, Pompeii lies in ruins because of when Mount Vesuvius erupted. Now a lot of people visit it to see the ruins. Despite the ruins, around them there is nice green grass and a lot of vegetation.

Many slaves and citizens fleed for their lives as the eruption grew stronger.

The cloud of ash rising from the volcano solidified into burning rocks and began to fall from the sky. Many bodies were found buried under the rocks, dead.

After the eruption, over 5000 of the Roman empire were killed. Today, a lot of the bodies were found buried under the rocks that fell onto the town. When archaeologists found the bodies they revealed the truth of how the town ended.
