- Abel Tasman lands in New Zealand in 1642 for the first time ever English send Caninball shots at the Moari as a welcoming sign but the Maori think it an attack warning and a fight happens four of Abel Tasmans men were killed
- The English land in poverty bay in 1769 their trip was mainly a scientific trip but the french were not behind the British wanted to do trading before the french arrived

- Muskets wars were over 1810, 1820, 1830, and over 1/5 of the Maori population were killed the Maori got muskets through trading with the British and picking up guns from dead british.
