- Man I need a new bed!
- Walter Gives Travis $1
- Here son---In fact, here's another 50 cents...Buy yourself some fruit today-or take a taxicab to school or something!
- "Thanks daddy---Whoopee!"
- Walter and Ruth Arguing
- "Eat your eggs, Walter"
- "DAMN MY EGGS-DAMN ALL THE EGGS THAT EVER WAS!"
- Introduction to everybody in the family. Travis, Walter, Mama, and Ruth.
- Mama and Ruth Talk About the Check
- "You know what you should do , Miss Lena? You should take yourself on a trip somewhere. To Europe or South America or someplace-"
- "In my mothers house there is still god"
- Travis asks Ruth for 50 cents for his school and his mother says no. So then he asks to go carry groceries but she also says no to that. When Walter walks in, he asks what Travis wants, and Travis says he needs 50 cents. After a mild argument, Walter gives Travis $1.
- Mama Confronts Beneatha
- "Now---you say after me, in my mothers house there is still God. In my mothers house there is still God"
- Walter tells his wife Ruth, about his dreams. His wife has heard this every morning and tells him to eat his eggs. Walter gets angry and says that a women should support her man and his dream. All Ruth says to him is "Eat your eggs" or "Go to work".
- Ruth Passes Out
- "Ruth! Ruth honey---whats the matter with you... Ruth!"
- After Walter leaves for work, and Travis leaves for school, Mama and Ruth talk about what to do with the money. They talk about Beneatha's school, and Walters liquor store. Then they talk about Mama taking a cruise.
- "Oh child!!!"
- When Beneatha and Ruth are talking about her schooling, Mama says that God will help her through school. After talking down on God and using his name in vain multiple times. Mama gets up from her seat and slaps Beneatha.
- After Mama confronts Beneatha about her talking about God, Ruth and Mama start talking. They are talking about Mamas kids and she compares them to her old plant. When Mama asks her to sing a song she see's that Ruth has passed out.
