- Mr. Lloyd, the apothecary, comes and visits Jane and asks her about going to school.

- I am Mr. Brocklehurst and you are invited to come to Lowood school.
- Mr. Brocklehurst meets with Jane and Mrs. Reed to discuss school.
- Jane travels in a carriage to Lowwod one rainy morning.
