- Well, Jerry, it starts when someone has an idea for a new law. They write it down and introduce it as a bill in Congress.
- Hey Jerry, do you know how a bill becomes a law?
- Not really, Tom. How does it work?
- Congress? What's that?
- Great question, Jerry! The bill goes through a series of steps called the legislative process. First, it goes to committees where they study it and make changes if needed.
- Congress is where our lawmakers discuss and make decisions about our country's laws. The bill goes to either the House of Representatives or the Senate.
- So, what happens after?
