- Darry Curtis has just hit Ponyboy Curtis for coming home late without a good excuse. Ponyboy is running away from Darry because of this action.

- Ponyboy and Johnny Cade have ran away from the city of Tulsa after Johnny killed someone They've left for a small, abandoned church in Windrixville.

- Ponyboy, Darry, and Sodapop Curtis, and Dally Winston unite/reunite after Johnny is severely injured from a church fire.
