  • Self-Doubt
  • Stop disturbing me! How can you possible not know what he's talking about right now. This is already very simple compared to what we're going to learn next chapter.
  • Tim, do you know what the teacher is talking about? I don't even have the faintest notion on what he's explaining on.
  • Parents
  • MARRY! Your teacher called today and told me that you got a very low score on the quiz today. Didn't I tell you to study? Do you not care about school now? I paid money for you to learn! I worked so hard to earn money and I expect you to work hard too! Understand me?
  • Disappointment
  • I want to be the epitome of the class too! But no matter how hard I try, I never seem to get desired results. I'd always envision myself working a 9 to 5 job at McDonald's for the rest of my life if I don't get better grades.
  • Marry finds this unit super perplexing and is overwhelmed by the pressure, feeling that she is inferior compared to her other classmates. It's a very typical problem, quite prevalent among teenagers nowadays. Marry has become very doubtful of herself and has tried many methods to improve her academic results. But unfortunately, she could barely keep up with the fast teaching pace.

  • I TRIED!
  • When Marry gets back home that day, her teacher, Mr. Phappy called her parents since he noticed that Marrys' grades has been on the downfall every since the second term. Her parents, after taking notice of the news, castigated Marry the moment she got back home from school. Marry was gravely dejected since initially, she wanted to seek consolation from her parents. Instead received their criticism.
  • Depression
  • {ignore the shoes} Marry was constantly sleep deprived because of the pressure. Wanting to exceed mediocrity, she tried to spend more time to study but she never gets the motivation to do so anymore. In this thriving metropolis, there are multifarious jobs and opportunities for Marry, but she always thinks of the worst that could happen to her in the future.
  • There's always a way out
  • Tim, originally sitting beside Marry solicited to move seats because of Marry's ignorance. It was exceptionally humiliating since she could see very clearly the reason why Tim switched seats. Mr. Phappy, on the other hand, kept asking her questions she didn't know the answer of. Marry often felt shameful and distraught by her inability and incompetence.
  • I really don't know sir.
  • Day by day, Marry became more and more depressed. It felt like falling, falling into a bottomless hole, not able to gauge when you'd fall to your death. She felt helpless, desperate, pressured. She wanted to scream, but no one could hear. She wanted moral support, but no one seemed to care. She wanted someone to confide to, but everybody seemed to advance so swiftly, no one cared to notice a little girl that went astray in this world.
  • YOU'RE USELESS!YOU'RE SO IGNORANT!YOU'RE SO LAZY!STUDY!
  • After seeing no improvement from Marry, Mr. Phappy advised her to see an Educational Psychologist. Initially, she was reluctant to see her giving that she's hopeless, but after a few times, she became brighter and optimistic. Dr. Ng gave her many suggestions and guidance to how she could overcome self-doubt and regain morale. She changed drastically, and so did her academic performance. Her parents finally understood her, she understood herself. There will always be a way out.
