- The Jail Guard Was Very Afraid (16:27-28)
- Believe in the Lord Jesus and you and your household will be saved.
- What must I do to be saved??
- They were punished by trying to help get the spirit out of the lady. Paul and Silas are dragged in front of the authorities. This happened because Paul told a “slave girl” and a spirit inside of her, that he commands in the name of Jesus Christ for it to come out of her. Shortly after this, they were thrown into prison .
- There was an earthquake. It shook the jail causing all the doors to fly open. The prison guard had thought Paul and Silas had escaped. This caused him to draw his sword and attempt to kill himself. Although Paul and Silas had not escaped, Paul told him not to harm himself.
- The jail guard had fallen over. He asked paul and Silas, “what can I do to be saved?” They responded by saying, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and your household will be saved.” He did just that. He thanked Paul and Silas by bringing them into his house and provided a meal and rejoiced at having come to faith with God.
