- The setting of Marigolds takes place in poverty community. The basic Situation is that Lizabeth and her family lives in poor community during the great depression, and she is telling her story of her going into womanhood. The characters of the story are Lizabeth, Joey, the mom, the dad, the children, and Miss. Lottie.
- 4th Box: Climax
- The very first rising action scene is when they decide to go to Miss Lottie's garden to get locusts. They see MIss Lottie andLizabeth, Joey, and the children throw pebbles at Miss Lottie and her garden.
- 5th Box: Falling Action
- The second rising action is when Lizabeth and Joey go back home and her Dad is upset and crying that he lost his job after so many years of working their and that he might not be able to provide for the familly.
- 6th box: Resolution
- The climax of the story is when Lizabeth wakes up Joey to go outside and go to Miss Lottie's garden. When she gets to her garden, she starts destroying the marigolds out of emotions and anger.
- After Lizabeth was done ripping out the flowers out of rage, she looked up to see Miss Lottie, and then she realized what she did was wrong, and that would be the last act of her childhood.
- The resolution of the story is Lizabeth knowing what she did was wrong, and could not be forgiven. This leads to her maturity and leading to her planting her own marigolds in her garden.
