- Hi, my name is Martha. I'm nine years old and I've lived in the big city my whole life
- I love it here. I love the sounds of the city. Cars whirring by, people laughing. I love the smells of food from all different places. The city has always felt like my home
- Tippin, come back!
- I don't much like the outdoors. It's wet and dirty, and things could jump out from any corner
- Tippin! Where are you?!
- But then, my mom got a new job as the sheriff of a small town called Wikerburg maine
- Before I knew it, I was trading in the whirring subway sounds for the grating squaks and chirps of nature
- And me, my mom, my dad, and my dog Tippin were moving off into the woods.
- We were lost in the woods
- I couldn't help but complain about where we lived now. I missed my old life. My mom thought that she had a solution.
- Wait, do you hear that?
- "Martha, when I was a kid I loved being outdoors. Whenever I was scared, I felt calmed by the flowers around me, and the sounds of the bee's buzzing. when I was sad, the forest would cry with me too. When I was angry, I thought about how big the world around me was, and how lucky I am to be a part of it.
- "Thats great mom" I groaned
- "Martha, how about you take pippin for a walk. It'll be nice for you to see how beautiful our new home is"
- "Come on tippin lets go this way!" I said as we headed out into out back yard
- I don't understand why mom thinks its so great here tippin. I miss our old life. Hey! what are you looking at?
- Over there! is that him
- Where are we?
- I closed my eyes and collapsed to floor. I couldn't believe it but
- buzzzzz
- Hey look, the rain is clearing up. Lets go this way pippin
- Wait! Please don't be scared. I'm only looking for my friend
- Oh look! Thats that squirrel! He got us into this mess in the first place . Hey! You squirrel! Im so angry at you!
- Yes. My friend the flower. Will you help me look for him?
- Your friend?
- You know mr bee, when I first saw you, I was so scared of you,
- well I suppose
- Oh no, its starting to rain! I hate the rain
- Oh hi there! I came up from underground to see the rain. I just love the rain. Dont you?
- Well no, Im actually lost and feel very sad right now. And then it started raining and the rain made me more sad
- Oh but thats the lovely thing about the rain. When you cry, the world is crying with you.
- Ive never thought about it like that. Thats rather beautiful
- Mountain lady lifts them up
- They are home
- go talk to mom
