- Jess Aarons was a 10 year old boy who grew up in a large , lower class family (where he was the only boy from 5 children) . Jess like drawing and racing at school .
- Leslie Burke was a 9 year old girl who was an only child and had well-suited parents . She grew up in the city and moved to the country side in the beginning of fifth grade .
- Hi I'm Leslie Burke I just moved in across the street
- Hello , I'm Jess Aarons
- Jess Aarons befriends the new girl at school, Leslie Burke..

- You know what we need Jess ? We need a place just for us , a secret country maybe like Narnia ! ' exclaimed Leslie
- Together, they create an imaginary kingdom in the woods named Terabithia, where they reign as king and queen.

- Thank you Miss Edmunds for taking me ,' Jess said before he entered the car .
- Jess doesn't want to go to Terabithia today and instead goes with his teacher to a art gallery and is worried Leslie would be mad.While Jess was at the art museum. Leslie drowned in the river as she tried crossing over to Terabithia.

- She went to Terabithia alone, and it seems the rope swing broke. They found her, but it was too late. I’m so sorry, son.

- Jesse is deeply affected by Leslie’s passing. He experiences a range of emotions including shock, and profound grief. The loss of his close friend and the imaginative world they shared together in Terabithia brings him immense sadness,

- No one here even knew Leslie , they don't even care about her if they did they wouldn't have brought her here , Jess thought to himself .
- When Jess was at Leslie's funeral he learnt that she would be creamted and he thought how no one cared about Leslie and they weren't crying for her but for themselves .
