- Baldo, once again, went to play with the puppies. Meanwhile, Ambo, his seven year old brother, awake crying. Nana Elang called him to the kitchen and later came down with a ripe banana in his hand. He ate the banana without peeling it.
- I will not. It is not your banana.
- You are not eating it.
- You foolish boy, remove the skin.
- But the skin is tart. It taste bad.
- Baldo and Ambo played with the puppies. The mother dog had not yet returned and the puppies were becoming hungry and restless Baldo held the black-spotted puppy more closely Ambo played with the other puppies. but he soon grew tired of them.
- PLEASE LET ME HOLD THAT PUPPY PLEASE! PLEASE

- Baldo and Ambo fought, and when Baldo put down the puppy. Ambo dived for it. However. Baldo saw his intention in time and they both fell on the puppy.
- Baldo left and checked the puppy. Ambo followed crying out threats and curses. They both grab the puppy. and when it growled. Baldo let go of it but Ambo kept hold of the fail.
- The puppy began to howl loudly, struggling to get away. Baldo cursed Ambo as they grappled and roll in the sand. Ambo kicked and bit and scratch Baldo without a sound. Paldo was sitting on Ambo's back, pummeling him with his fists.
- It was morning in Nagrebcan. In the gray shadow of the hills the barrio was gradually awakening.

- The puppy attended to follow them but Tang Ciaco caught it with a sweeping blow of the piece of firewood. The puppy was flung into the air. Another chunk of fire wood descended and the puppy ceased to howl.
