Storyboard-Text

  • Hello I’m Democritus(Lived in the 5th century BCE, Athens Greece). I’m the greatest philosopher to ever live. I am the first one to ever come up with the atomic model. I found out about it when I a stone broke in 2. So when I saw that I thought if the rock kept on breaking it would get to a point it couldn't be broken anymore. A few fun things you should know about me is that I love to laugh all the time and my teacher was the one the only Leucippus of Thrace.
  • Pfft, Democritus thought he was the greatest. Wrong! I am, Antoine Lavoisier (1743-1794, in Paris,France). Although I respect his works he is definitely not the greatest to ever work on the atomic model. I combined sulfur and phosphorus to prove that these 2 elements gain weight along with air. Also did you know that I am the father of modern chemistry. Anyway I also found out that the total mass of products and reactions are the same! So you can clearly see that I am the greatest. Lavoisier Out!
  • Uhh Helloooo, haven’t you guys ever heard of the John Dalton(1766-1844, in Cumberland England)? I was the one who first thought of compound elements and in one of my experiments I was looking at the compound tin oxide, maybe you’ve heard of it, anyway I found out the the mass of the tin and the oxygen. It turns out that there is a 2:1 ration between tin and oxygen. So in other words for every 2 tin atoms there was one oxygen atom. Other things you should know about me is that I am a Quaker (protestant chrsitian) and believe it or not I was the first to publish a scientific document on colorblindness.
  • Ok thank you for that opening and now it’s time for Ernest Rutherford (1867-1937, lived in England, Canada and Nelson) aka me. I was in fact a student of J.J. Thomson and since I was his student it led me to think of the proton. As I was firing alpha particles at a piece of foil I saw the light was being scattered which led me to infer that instead of passing through the foil something was causing the alpha particles when they hit it. Also other things I came up with the terms alpha and beta. Thank you for listening.
  • Man you guys are annoooying. First of all, all the things you said are true but not accurate enough. I J.J Thomson(1856- 1940, lived in Cheetham, England) just found out about electrons which are negatively charged particles in an atom. They surround the nucleus of the atom. Experimenting with cathode ray tubes I showed the science world that all atoms have negatively charged subatomic particles also known as the electron. I’m done here so let’s cut to the chase I have already been knighted for my works and I have also received the Order of the Merit.
  • Oh finally these boys were tiring me out, not the woman speak. My name is Marie Curie(1867-1934, lived in the 3rd French Republic) and I have just found out about radioactivity. It turns out that it emits penetrating rays made by atoms. Also thanks to moi we have 2 new elements: polonium and radium. Although the results were rewarding the time it took me to do my experiments took several years since I had to isolate elements. Some cool things about me is that I have won the Nobel Prize for physics, Twice. One other thing is that even though my lab was not advanced I still did the unthinkable.
