- it's when one substance (the solute) is dissolved in another substance (the solvent).
- So a classic example, think of sugar dissolving in water
- what is a solution.A solution is a homogenous mixture of two or more pure substances

- like salt dissolved in water. Plus, they're uniform throughout, so if you take a sip from one part of the solution, it should taste the same as another part
- meaning they don't separate out over time. They're also transparent, meaning you can see right through them
- And characteristics- wise, solutions are pretty cool because they are stable mixtures
- and hey, they're everywhere! from the air we breathe ( a mix of gases) to the beverages we drink ( like coffee or soda)
- solutions are all around us, quietly mingling away
