Arrival of Magellan in the Philippines

- The boats started to sail south and a fierce seasonal storm appeared. The wheather turned bad.
- Sir, we have run out of water and food. We need to find shore or we will not be able to survive for more than a month.
- We can stop at the Canary Islands to refuel. Hopefully that will help us get back on track with our voyage.
- The ships landed in the Philipeans. When he reached, he got into a battle with the original inhabitants. He lost 40 of his men in the battle.
- Magellan died on April 1521 in the battlefield, after being shot at with a poisonous arrow.
- To honour our leader, we will complete Magellan's mission and return to Spain.

- The Victoria was the only ship capable of coming back to Spain from the spice islands. There were 18 crew members that survived and they came bearing gifts. A ship full of spices. They were the first to sail around the world.

- Even though Ferdinand Magellan Suffered a painful death, he received great recognition for his adventures and discoveries. He named the Pacific Ocean and the king named an island after him. It is called the Straits of Magellan.
