- The Peninsulares were the group of people that came directly from Iberian peninsula ( Spain ) to the colonies in USA. They held the highest positions in government.

- The Creoles are born in the West Indies or Spanish America but of European, usually spanish, ancestry. A person born in louisiana are usually french ancestry. sometimes a lower class person of mixed black and european, especially french or spanish, ancestry who speaks of creolized from french or spanish.
- This term means mixed in spanish, this is usually used by latin america to describe people of mixed ancestry with a white european and indigenous background.
- Mestizos
- Mulattos
- This is referred to people of mixed African and European ancestry. its considered outdated and offensive. a mulatta is a female of mulatto.
- Slaves & Natives
- First native were slaves, but when spanish brought the diseases, and killed all natives. African American became slaves .
