- Long ago, the people wanted a king, so God granted their wish. He made a special promise to a king named David, assuring him that his family would always be in charge of God's people. It was foretold that a future king, known as 'the Messiah' or 'Christ,' would come to bless the entire world with His arrival.
- After King David's time, many of the later Kings turned away from God and led the people to worship idols, which made God very sad. Despite this, God's love for His people never wavered. He sent prophets to warn them to change their ways and return to Him; otherwise, they would face Exile and be taken away from the promised land. Sadly, the people didn't heed the prophets' warnings, and as a consequence, enemies like Assyria and later Babylon invaded and completely destroyed Israel.
- Turn Back to God!
- In time, a portion of God's people managed to go back to the promised land and started rebuilding their homeland. However, it wasn't as prosperous as it once was. As we reach the end of the Old Testament, God's people are still waiting and hoping for His promises to come true. They wonder when their blessing will come and when the Messiah, the special King, will appear to fulfill all the promises made to them. The waiting continues, and the longing for their Savior remains strong.
