  • What is the purpose of Political Parties?
  • The purpose of political parties is to win elections in order to control governmental power and implement its policies. They are people who share similar beliefs about how they want their country governed. Within gun control there is a slit in the idea to allow the posession of guns. Republicans support the decsion, but democrats fear the effect of selling guns.
  • What are interests groups and what do they do ?
  • Interest groups are formed to promote the interests or concerns of their members. They are primarily concerned with influencing public policy. The NRA for example is a interest group toward the gun control movement who supports school security and help reduce violent crime but are against gun control because it fals short in every level.
  • Gun control is a main focus in education today because of the risks of school shootings. Politcal parties get involved when the idea of letting teachers be armed or not come about because of the split decision to allow the sell of guns in general.

  • The media has given political parties the tools to reach large numbers of people and inform them on key issues ranging from policies to elections. Gun control has become a popular focus on the news due to shootings across the U.S persuading more and more people to be agaisnt guns.
  • Differences
  • Interest groups are any association of individuals or organizations usually formally organized,like the NRA ( national rifle association) that have a shared concern of an issue to influence policy in its favor. Unlike parties, they use a strategy called lobbying.
  • Political Parties are individuals who organize to win elections, operate government, and influence public policy for multiple issues. Members may disagree on some issues and are only a part of it if you say you are. For example the use of gun control where republicans dont support and democrats do.

  • The NRA uses a strategy called lobbying as an attempt to influence the government about gun control to take action through either written or oral communication in order to persuade government officials to support the policies their interest group favors.
  • They provide policymakers with information not easily obtained elsewhere. NRA Training Counselors recruit and train instructors to teach NRA's basic firearm courses.From beginner to developing competitor, the NRA Training Department develops safe, ethical, responsible shooters through a network of more than 125,000 instructors and range safety officers and coaches.
