- Hello my name is Mustafa. I am a free Ashanti boy and I live in Ghana on the continent of Africa.

- The Middle Passage
- It is the 15th century and Mustafa an Ashanti tribe boy is at home in Ghana with his animals. He lives with his family and is very happy to be free in his own home country. But life is about to change for the worst.................
- Arrival in the Caribbean
- Mustafa is about to be captured as men from the continent of Europe have arrived in ships on the shores of Africa. These men are slave traders and their aim is to capture Africans and take them to the Caribbean to be sold as slaves for work on the sugar plantations there.
- Auctioned as a Slave
- Ok ok I sell for $78
- Today I have an Ashanti boy for sale. $80
- I bid him for $75 .
- we will pay $78 for the very best
- Mustafa and other captured Africans were chained together on the slave ships and were not allowed to move or use the bathroom and many of them got sick, died and got thrown overboard at sea. The journey took many months and the conditions were inhumane.
- Life on the Plantation
- When the ships arrived in the Caribbean, the slaves were taken off and they were advertised for sale to prospective plantation owners who would buy them to work on their plantations.
- Mustafa was washed and rubbed down with palm oil to make him look strong. He was placed on auction and sold to John Gordon a plantation owner who lived in Trelawny in Jamaica. Mustafa was lonely and very sad. His freedom was gone and he was now someone's property.
- He cried because he missed his family and he was now very far away from his home. He would now have to cut sugar cane and do what his new master told him to do. He would work for long hours without pay and face harsh treatment. Mustafa was now a slave.
