Storyboard-Text

  • Hello my name is Kelis Muhammad, I am a slave from Huntsville located in Alabama. I've been enslaved my entire life. I losted my mother , father & 3 of my siblings to being trade. I want to find my way to the North so I could live a better & free life.
  • While I was working on the field my master had told me the worst news of my life. This pain in my heart was too hard to handle.
  • WAIT! Mr.Johnston please don't sell me. I do my best trying to do everything you ask. I DON"T WANT TO GET SELLED.
  • Kelis you are getting selled today. I don't care how you feel , it's the best decision for me.
  • While I was packing my belongings away, my Aunt had told me she heard the news of me getting sold. She told me that she had a plan for me to get away.
  • Kelis! I heard the news and I found away for you to leave to the north. Hurry up & pack up your things. I'm going to introduce to my friend Harriet.
  • Thank you so much Auntie! I finally get to live the life I always wanted, I'm so ready Alabama.
  • When it had finally got dark outside my Auntie took me to see her friend Harriet. Harriet told me the whole plan about how to get to the North.
  • Okay, I know the trip to the north will be long and I'm prepared to start my new life. Thank you for your help.
  • Hi Kelis, I have a plan to get you out of here. It's called the underground railroad. It's one of the safest ways to get slaves to freedom.
  • My journey to the north was a long one but it was worth. I had been on my feet for days, with pain all in my feet and my body hurting. I made new friends but some of us didn't end up in the same state. I was happy I had finally made it to the north.
  • I had finally made it to the north. I was living in Harlem, New York. Life was better here even though the whites still hated us, we had way more rights in the north. I would never go back the south. I love it here.
  • WELCOME TO NEW YORK! WHERE DREAMS DO COME TRUE
