The Lanterns are Lit
The First Encounter
The Militia Spot the British
Paul Revere sees the two lit lanterns on the top of Old North Church, saying that the Regulars are coming by water instead of land. So he sets off to warn the countryside along with many others.
"The Shot heard 'round the World"
The Regulars march into Lexington and are met by a militia company. They then kill 7 militiamen and move on towards Concord.
The Redcoats Ambushed
The Regulars head towards Barrett Farm where a stock of weapons is presumably located. A militia gathers on high ground, and when they see smoke rising from Concord and think that the Redcoats are setting the town on fire; so they confront them.
Battle Road
Major Buttrick of Concord then yells: “For God’s sake, fire!” and the militia responded by killing three Regulars and wounding nine. That volley of shots is called “the shot heard ‘round the world.”
For God's sake, fire!
When the Redcoats were retreating back to their ship in Boston, they were ambushed by Minute Men on all sides.
When they reached Lexington, the Redcoats are then continually ambushed by Minute Men for the next 12 miles. Those 12 miles are now called Battle Road. The Regulars then retreated into their boat and sailed off.
