- Charles I hated the Catholics so he created many unfair rules. One of these rules was that Catholics had to to go to Protestant's churches and where fined with they didn't. This angered many Catholics.
- In 1602 thirteen Catholics decided to revolt against the king and blow up parliament so they decided to meet in a local pub and discusses their plans.
- there plan was to rent the room under parliament and buy lots of barrels of gunpowder. They then would put all the barrel's in the cellar and on the 5th of November 1605 they would blow up the barrels and kill everyone in parliament above. including Charles I
