Storyboard Tekst

  • Setting
  • The main point of the setting was to create conflict, as the story is set in antebellum Louisiana, where slavery was big, and interracial couples were unheard of, which contributes to the conflict since that location and that time period make the man vs. society conflict possible. The setting also set's the atmosphere, as you can see Armand's plantation is a sad place, which sets the mood for the story.
  • The roof came down steep and black like a cowl, reaching out beyond the wide galleries that encircled the yellow stuccoed homes. Big, solemn oaks grew close to it, and their thick leaved far reaching branches shadowed it like a pall
  • Characterization
  • They use direct characterization to describe Désirée. For example they say she has long silky brown hair and describe her as beautiful. She is static because she doesn't change throughout the story. She is round because she has 4 traits as seen in the quote above.
  • For the girl grew to be beautiful and gentle, affectionate and sincere,-the idol of Valmondé.
  • Conflict
  • The main conflict in this story is man vs. society. This is because if there wasn't biases against people of color there wouldn't have been a problem with the baby being mixed.
  • It is a lie; it is not true, I am white!
  • PLOT
  • It means the child isn't white. It means you aren't white.
  • Tell me what this means!
  • Point of View
  • It made her laugh to think of Désirée with a baby
  • Theme
  • ...I thank the good God for having so arranged our lives that our dear Armand will never know that his mother, who adores him, belongs to the race that is cursed with the brand of slavery .
  • The climax of this story is when Desiree confronts Armand over the baby.
  • The point of view is 3rd person omniscient. We see this through the use of the pronouns he, she, and they. We can also see multiple characters thoughts which makes it omniscient.
  • Don't judge or make assumptions about somebody else's character before you know your own.
