- Plates do not move closer together or further apart, but slide past each other.
- DIVERGENT BOUNDARY
- The plates move away from each other and new lithosphere is produced.
- CONVERGENT BOUNDARY
- The plates move towards each other and the denser plan moves under the less dense plate.
