In 1066, William of Normandy and his Norman Army havesailed to England in an attempt to seize the English throne.
Time to make me king!
William and his troops land at the town of Pevensey, which quickly surrenders, as most of the English army is in the North fighting a Viking invasion. The Normans try to lure King Harold South by ravaging the local area.
Well that was easy!
The English army meets the Normans at Hastings. The English have the high-ground, on a hill, but the Normans have cavalry and archers.
Forwards!
William sent wave after wave of infantry and cavalry, but the English had formed a shield wall and they could not get through.
Keep going!
Suddenly, something strange happened. It's possible thatthe Norman army thought William was dead, but they quickly retreated and the English could smell victory.
Why are they retreating?!
Thinking they had won, the English broke their shield wall and ran down the hill. Unexpectedly, the Norman troops circled the English and thus they wiped them out and won.
