  • By the way, have you seen the latest news last night? It’s always about the upcoming 2022 election over and over again. We all know that my presidential candidate will be the one that will win.
  • Hello, good day, Francis. I’m glad to see you again after all these years. Since we’re used to being friends, can we have a coffee together?
  • Sure, why not?
  • I’m not sure about that, Ian. How sure are you that your candidate will win and have the capability to run our country for six years? Tell me more about it inside.
  • Well, I do not have any proof or information about him. But my family will vote for him, and even my friends, relatives, and neighbors support him during his candidacy. So I can say that he’s going to win this election.
  • I tend to disagree with the idea, that is not a proper way of choosing the best candidate for the election. You have to be wise and careful in voting because what they do in the country will soon affect society and our future. Why not do some research and fact-checking to know what your candidate is capable of when it comes to leadership? In that way, you can say why you have chosen him. You are just under the influence of your family. Pre-existing biases are strong and the need to conform is great.
  • I see your point, but fake news, lies, unreliable surveys, and trolls are all over social media platforms. I can’t figure out if what I am reading is the truth or just a piece of information to blind me from knowing the real side of the truth. Let’s just respect my opinion and belief of my candidate and stop telling me what to do because I will never change my mind.
  • I see that you are a victim of fake news peddlers. All I want to say is that changing beliefs after being corrected is okay. Choosing to believe in fake news despite being corrected is not okay. Your idea is worth considering, but try being informed rather than opinionated, in this way your mind will lead you to the truth.
  • Ian and Francis used to be friends in high school. They met again in some coffee shop. They talk, and Ian opens up about his presidential candidate in the election.
  • It is not partly true that opinions aren’t crucial anymore, I believe that views are personal in every way and I’m convinced that all of us have a reason why we choose a certain candidate to be a leader for this country. I cannot agree with your idea because it is not very much convincing for me to search for the credentials and track record just to see if he’s qualified for the position.
  • Uhm okay, but here’s an example. You’re a manager in a company and someone wants to apply for a job, but he says that he doesn’t have a resume and just wants to say everything he wants to do for the company, his dedication, and how great he is. Do you think you will accept him without any record or data? I don’t think so. I still have my doubts about your idea, not so right yet not so wrong.
  • Ian tells Francis why he chooses his candidate. But Francis disapproved of him.
  • I agree with you in principle, however, don’t you think it is also a priority to see the commitment, compassion, and the acceptance of responsibility in every candidate that I’m sure my chosen leader has. He presents himself as a name, an idea, a hope. He is a symbol of perseverance, greatness, and a second chance for his people.
  • I simply must agree with that, all that you say is such a significant quality of a future president. If that’s what you believe in then go on, but you shouldn’t tolerate misinformation and disinformation. Remember that the future president should show his receipt, the work he does, and the spirit he brings. You should also see him in action for the betterment of the people and be clear about what he wants for our country after we unite.
  • They exchange arguments and beliefs about choosing a presidential candidate.
  • It was a pleasure talking with you mate, but I still have a meeting this afternoon. Although we’re at different parties, expect me to take your advice. Well, you could be right, after all, we are fighting for good governance and the betterment of humanity. I appreciate that you take time to have a little chat with me. Thank you til’ next time Francis.
  • Thank you also for listening. The only thing that I want is for you to be a more critical thinker and smart voter for the future generation. You could say your opinions and everything that you want to say but please be aware that don’t be biased and search for the credentials and experience of every candidate. By the way, do you have a business card, Ian? I promise to keep in touch with you after the election.
  • They continue telling their side of the story to each other.
  • They somehow agree with each other after some serious conversation.
  • Finally, they respect and wish each other a piece of good luck in the upcoming election.
