- Telemachus meets Nestor and Menelaus, who tell him that his father, Odysseus, is still alive and trapped. The Gods, particularly Athena, are working to get Odysseus home.

- Odysseus is stuck on Ogygia with the nymph Calypso. Hermes rescues Odysseus, and we begin to see Odysseus as a brave, adventurous leader.

- Odysseus arrives at the court of the Phaeacians and tells them the stories of his travels. He uses his diplomatic skills to work with this other kingdom. The Phaeacians promise to return Odysseus home.
- Conclusion
- Odysseus tells the Phaeacians of his bravery, especially in his fight against Polyphemus, the cyclops. His bravery, determination, and intelligence saved him in his fight against the cyclops.
