- The Oregon trail AKA trail of tears was very long it was 2,000 miles long plus some people went by foot with no shoes there and back! It was so bad that some people died from illnesses, it was a tragedy.
- A man named James W. Marshall was the first person to find gold in the California gold rush. It was in newspapers that you could be rich and it was worth 870,000 so a bunch of people after reading the newspaper rushed to California.
