- Horatio tries talking to the ghost, but it refuses to speak and vanishes. So, Horatio suggests they should inform Prince Hamlet.

- Claudias, who was now the new king of Denmark, brother of the Old King Hamlet and Hamlet son of King Hamlet, and gretude, former wife of King Hamlet and new wife of King Claudias. Hamlet couldn't accept the marriage between them and mourned for his father's death.
- Horatio enters the scene and informs Hamlet that they have just seen a ghost that resembles the old King Hamlet. Hamlet is confused but determined to see it for himself.
