  • In Scylla and Charybdis, Odysseus meets Scylla, a six-headed monster, and Charybdis, a whirlpool. They are both on opposite ends of a rock. Because of their encounter, Odysseus loses 6 of his good men. Odysseus was able to survive Scylla and Charybdis because of the advice from Circe, which was to steer closer to Scylla. Circe said it was better to lose 6 good men rather than his whole crew, so Odysseus listened to Circe and was able to escape.
  • Im so sorry to have had to sacrifice you men.
  • The 6 dead men
  • Odysseus discovered the cattle of the god Helios. Odysseus lets it be known that there will be consequences upon them if they eat the cattle. Although they were warned, his men still proceed to eat the cattle. Because of this, Helios calls upon Zeus and he throws lighting at their ship, destroying it. All his men died. He was knocked unconscious and washed up on an island he’s never seen before.
