  • The incas retaliated against the spaniards and laid seige to Cuzco by setting the houses to the town on fire and under smoke the entered the city and put up barricades. The Spanish's night attack failed because the cannons would not operate. The incan seige lasted from february to August 1536.though they had no food to keep them from starvation they harassed the spaniards for another 6 months. The seige was broken when Spanish reinforcements arrived.
  • After a year, they arrived in Tumbes and plundered the city and sent the wealth back to Panama and this was enough to convince settlers to join Pizarro's army.He was also joined by the conquistador Hernando De Soto and with these reinforcements they continued south and established the town of San Miguel which was also the base for future operations.
  • The spanish regained control and they stripped the area of any gold, silver and jewels they could find and returned to Spain. However they became so greedy that they killed each other for the wealth.Almagro was strangled in 1538 and Pizarro wasmurdered in 1541.The spanish influence had also extended to Quito, Bogota and Santiago de Chile
