- Look at that British fool. He walks around so high and mighty, but his kind is disgusting.
- Rising Action
- Ooh my, a person got killed
- The police officer shoudl kill the elephant
- The elephant is so dangerous. It broke free from its chains.
- This is the story of 'SHooting an Elephant by George Orwell.
- Climax
- There was a young British man living in Burma for his job as an officer. He is hated by the people as they jeer at him, insult him, and trip him. It shows that he is hated for what he does and where he came from.
- Falling action
- Orwell got a call about an elephant running in the bazaar. He found out that a tame elephant had gone “must”, because it had been chained up. The elephant had escaped and the person who was after the elephant took a wrong turn and was 12 hours away. The elephant was too dangerous to be roaming free, it killed an Indian man. Now Orwell had to kill it as he was pressured by the people, when they saw him holding his rifle. He saw the elephant peacefully eating, and he didn't want to shoot the elephant, but he didn't want to look like a fool.
- Resolution
- Orwell had to choose whether or not to shoot the elephant. The pressure was intense but he shot the elephant in places he thought the elephant would die quicker.
- I tried to make sure he died a quick death. I didnt want to kill the elephant. But people would have thought I was a fool.
- YAY! HE KILLED THE ELEPHANT!!!!
- The elephant was hurt and has tortured breathing. He was dying, very slowly. The crowd was cheering, but Orwell couldn't stand it any longer and left.
- There were discussions about the elephant that was killed. The owner was mad, Europeans were divided, older men said it was right, and younger men said it was a shame. Orwell wondered if any of them had a thought that he did it just because he didn't want to look like a fool.
- I wonder if they knew I just killed the elephant because I did not want to look like a fool.
