Talking about rights, let´s now talk about the French revolution, it was a social and political movement that happened in 1789 and it created a new political era in Europe. France was ruled by an absolutist monarch and was experiencing economic problems due to the nobility’s expenses and the wars against England. There was also a marked social division. When the Revolution triumphed, the old French system of government was deposed and the Republic was established.
One of the most important contributions of the Revolution was the Declaration of Rights of Men and Citizens, it proclaimed the equality of all men before the law, the political and religious freedom, the right to private property and that sovereignty resides in the nation rather than in the monarch.
