Storyboard Tekst

  • Why not, take these cheeses, get them stowed, come back, throw open all the pens, and make a run for it?
  • No, we must wait for the owner of this cave.
  • Cyclops, try some wine. Here's liquor to wash down your scraps of men.
  • LET'S DO THIS!
  • NO QUITTING NOW!
  • After landing on the Cyclopes' island, Odysseus takes twelve of his men to explore a cave they see. His men suggest taking the goods in the cave, but Odysseus wanted to see the Cyclops that lives in the cave. They waited for the Cyclops to come back to the cave.
  • We'll wait here until the morning.
  • Odysseus realized that killing Polyphemus would be of no use, since they would be stuck in the cave. So, Odysseus decided to trick the Cyclops and harm him instead. Odysseus and his men made a weapon from a trunk and hid it in a dung pile. When Polyphemus came back, he convinced the Cyclops to drink wine. Polyphemus loved it and wanted even more.
  • If I could take your life I would and take your time away, and hurl you down to hell!
  • O hear me, lord, blue girdler of the islands, if I am thine indeed, and thou art father: grant that Odysseus, raider of cities, never see his home.
  • After drinking all the wine, Polyphemus went into a deep sleep. While he was sleeping, Odysseus and four of his men hit the Cyclops in the eye with the weapon they had made earlier.
  • Let's have a feast!
  • Later, when Polyphemus had calmed down from the attack, Odysseus planned a way to get out of the cave. He tied three sheep together. One man was tied to the middle sheep. The same happened with the eleven other men. Odysseus tied himself under a ram. They all waited until morning, when the Cyclops would let the sheep out.
  • Odysseus taunted and humiliated Polyphemus, proud of tricking him. Polyphemus gets mad and calls on Poseidon, his father, to curse him. The curse is that Odysseus shall never find his way back home after many dark years, to an unfamiliar home.
  • When Odysseus and his crew make it to the island that the rest of the ships are waiting on, Odysseus cut the ram's thigh to eat it. All the men feasted for the rest of the night in a great mood.
