- Della and Jim are husbands and Mr. James Dellingham is the man who collects the rent every week.

- Della is thinking of buying a gift and Jim is thinking of doing the same they want to give each other gifts for Christmas to show how much they love each other.
- Resolution
- But Della and Jim have a big problem and it is that they do not have enough money to buy and Mr. James collects the rent from them and to earn money they both have to sacrifice something very valuable. Della has to sell his hair and Jim sell his watch.
- After Deja sold his hair, something so dear to her and Jim sold his watch, something very bally for him, they returned home to deliver their gifts.
- When Della and Jim returned home, they gave each other their gifts but Jim was surprised to see that his wife had her hair cut, both of them were surprised by the gifts and they could show how much they love each other.
