- Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win.
- This is the Finch family. They reside in the city of Maycomb, Alabama, sometime after the great depression. Atticus Finch is the father of Jean Louise Finch and Jeremy Atticus Finch. Jean Louise is also known as scout, and Jeremy as Jem.
- The main conflict in TKAMB, is the Tom Robinson case as the book is centered around this. In other words the main topic of the book is racism, although there are lots more sub-topics in the book. The Finch family gets a lot of backlash for Atticus defending a black man, so the kids have to put up with racist insults from adults and childern.
- Atticus was assigned a case that was, in everyones eyes, impossible to win, but without hesitation Atticus took the case of a black man (Tom Robinson). Meanwhile the kids, Scout, Dill (friend of Scout and Jem) and Jem are very intrigued with the the life of their neighborhood "ghost", Boo Radley.
- The climax, without a doubt, is the courtroom scene. This scene is what all before this was building up to, so everything was constructed perfectly. Although, Tom was an innocent man with proof, he was found guilty unanimously by an all white jury. The kids are baffled by this answer due to their innoncence and lack of knowledge on the subject.
- Although some may argue with this being the climax of the story, I disagree. This scene is where Bob Ewell attacks the kids from their way back from the halloween paegent. Suddenly a myestery man appears from out the shadows and stabs Bob.
- As no one expected Boo Radley was the "mystery man" to stab and save Jem and Scout. He had not been seen for years, so Jem and Scout could not believe their eyes when they saw who it was. Boo Radley walked them home to where they were safe and sound.
