- Molly's Grandma has died, leaving her house to Molly. One day, she goes to the house to go through the attic and see what her Grandma left her. She finds a peculiar door, and goes through it to see what she finds...
- I wonder what is behind this door... Grandma never told me about this.
- Molly is transported to Ancient Palestine, where she is thrown into a conversation between a Jewish Christian and a Pharisee. They are discussing if Jesus is qualified to be the ultimate high priest.
- It is clear that Jesus fulfills the role of high priest predicted in the OT.
- He can't be the true Messiah and the great high priest because he isn't from the line of Aaron.
- He couldn't be considered the great high priest because he died, giving up his power.
- If he were the true messiah, he would have defeated the Romans, becoming the great king and high priest.
- He is a different kind of high priest. He is a high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
- Actually, God had a better plan for his people...
- Jesus is an ultimate high priest because his sacrifice is the final one, making them unnecessary to continue with animal sacrifices and rituals.
- He is still interceding for us at the right hand of God in heaven. He is an advocate for us.
- He will also return one day, and be our high priest, king, and prophet on the new earth.
- That makes sense... but how is he still the great high priest even though he died?
- It means that we can come to him when we need forgiveness.
- How is that helpful for us? Sacrifices seem to work fine.
- He created a new covenant that fully covers our sin in one sacrifice. Animal sacrifices was only a temporary solution.
