  • That's an easy one. just like our office, our bodies are divided into cells which duplicate from already existing ones to make us grow. Don't believe me? Let's take a look. After all, it is our lunch break.
  • Hey Theo! I wonder what we're made of and how we grow.
  • It's got to be here somewhere.
  • I actually have a great-great-great- great-grandfather who was a famous scientist.
  • His name was Theodore Schwann. He discovered that all animals contain cells. I even have his research papers from that time.
  • How do you know so much about cells?
  • Here it is!
  • Research on Animal Structure After a thorough observation of animal body samples, I can conclude that all animals are made of cells. My observation has come through the use of compound microscopes which magnify any sample placed underneath it. You will see tiny compartments in any animal specimen which we scientists refer to as cells thanks to Robert Hooke. In conclusion, I have made the realization that all animals contain cells, and I am currently contacting others in hopes to find another fellow scientist who will help me develop a theory on the rules of cells.
  • By: Theodore Schwann
  • Oh yeah... I forgot to tell you that I have another great-great-great-great grandfather who was also a scientist.
  • This guy's name was Rudolph Virchow. He actually helped Schwann understand more about cells. The blackboard Virchow used is in this house today, too.
  • Wow! That's crazy cool. The one thing I don't understand is how you know about cells duplicating from preexisting ones.
  • Today, I had to teach a numbskull about cells. He is a scientist by the name of Theodore Shwann. Luckily, his partner, Schlieden, knew his stuff. Schwann still believed cells materialized into existence which is contrary to the correct fact that they only come from preexisting cells. My diagram below is a representation of this:
  • Virchow's
  • Yep. I'm named after my scientist relative who made huge innovations in science. If you're ever in need of cell info, I'm the guy you should call.
  • Thanks for the info, buddy! ... WAIT, I just realized why your name is Theodore Virchow.
