  • It also lead to:Deterioration in public services- as the waiters would be high all the timeMassive peasant uprisings- as not one would work to earn money resulting in poverty
  • It also caused:A massive trade deficit is China as they were importing more opium than exporting silk, tea a porcelain. Which means they were filling Britain's pockets.

  • As China got weaker, other countries came in and formed sphere's of influence where they had extraterritoriality. Slowly, China was controlled by foreign nations rather than the Qing empire.
  • As I and many others were unfortunate at trying to stop this trade during the opium wars, Hong Kong was made a British Colony and more trading ports were opened. China's worst fear were coming true.
  • The many sphere's influence lead to the spread of Christianity in China. However, some locals didn't like this and started rebellions. The Taiping and Boxer rebellions are some examples that lead to the death of many people.
