  • great job, so if the government wanted to pass a law saying everyone who eats chocolate on mondays goes to prison, they cant because in the constitution it states no unreasonable or cruel punishments.
  • Before you become a law you need to know the system of government. to start does anyone know what the constitution is?
  • Bill School
  • The constitution (created in 1787)is a legal paper that states the basic principles and laws of the u.s. and guides the government. no other law may contradict what is in the constitution.
  • learn the system of government and one day become a law.
  • next you need to know the 3 branches of government. legislative, judicial, and executive. what do each of the branches do?
  • The judicial branch is responsible for interpreting laws and deciding if they are constitutional or not. if the branch believes a law is unconstitutional they can provide checks and balances on the executive and legislative branches. which means in that case the judicial branch has more power over the other branches to manage the system.
  • The head of the executive branch is the president. this branch is made up of agencies like the FBI and CIA and departments like the department of justice and defence, and the military. they are in charge of enforcing laws. That means instructing the military, creating treaties, assign supreme court justices, and vetoing legislation.
  • The legislative branch is in charge of writing laws. The branch is made up of two houses, the house of representatives and the senate. Every law that is written by this branch must fit into every requirement of the constitution.
  • The bill of rights is the first 10 amendments of the u.s. constitution. The bill of rights assures the citizens their basic personal rights. In particular your freedom rights, Freedom of speech and religion, no unreasonable searches and seizures, rights of the accused, right to trial by jury in civil case and so on and so forth.
  • Great job everyone! we have already talked about the constitution but does anyone know what the bill of rights is?
