- At the beginning of chapter 8 piggy and a few other boys are talking about what the thing they saw something that they thought to be the beast when all the while it was a dead man and his parachute. The text says, "Piggy looked up miserably from the dawn-pale beach to the dark mountain." Piggy is still questioning himself about what happened previously. Pg 124.
- Jack is beginning to become psycho and is starting to be very different around the boys and is starting to suggest they make sacrifice to "the beast." The text states, "
- Simon sees the Lord of the flies or so he thinks he does all the while he is just imagining it because they have been on the island for a long time. The text states, "What are you gonna do out here all alone? Aren't you afraid of me." Simon thinks it is the pig head on a stick talking to him but he is most likely just hallucinating. Pg 143.
- Ralph decides to call another meeting with all of the boys and eventually they started to argue with each other and jack end up leaving. The text states, " Jack turned red in the face, his chin sunk back. He glowered up under his eyebrows." He is getting nervous about him having to face the beast and is worried. Pg 127.
