Storyboard Tekst

  • After their baby being in the NICU for 35 days, Niki Mirabella and her husband were beyond ready to take their daughter, Gina home. Despite all of the negative comments and everything the. doctors and nurses said, they were sure their daughter was going to be a survivor.
  • Incubator... Machines... Feeding tubes
  • She's not going to make it
  • Going to be mentally retarded.
  • Despite all the negativity and doubt that sounded her, she was determined to fight for the life of her daughter. After endless trips, hospital visits, g-tube insertion, a stem cell transplant, PT, OT, feeding therapy, snd so much more. Gina was. able to wow the world with her progress, fight, and spirit.
  • GO GINA!!!
  • Jayde
  • After reading and listening to Gina's astory, I feel saddened by how much people tried to diminish her mothers hope. Instead of stating the facts but being positive, hoping for the best, and telling the parents what they can do to increase Gina's quality of life and life expectancy.
  • One thing teachers can do to encourage parents to share their voice is to ask them to write a letter to the teacher about getting to know their child.
  • Dear Ms. Fuentes, Gina is a cheerful, loving, funny person that loves to dance along to music....... Sincerely,
  • Another way teachers can encourage parents to share their voice is by having open communication. It is important for parents to voice their opinions in any way they can. Whether it be by meeting in person, online, communicating through text, email, phone call, class dojo, etc. If Niki didn't speak up and fight for Gina to be placed in Ms. Kathy's class, she might not have flourished the way she did, or as quickly as she did.
  • By having parents update their children's teachers on important milestones or progresses, teahcers are able to be reminded of their growth and continue to work for further growth.
  • Photos and Videos
  • Scheduling times to meet on a regular basis (maybe once a month), in order to re-evaluate and discuss what's working and what might need to be modified in order to keep the students best interests in mind.
  • Working together is the best way to get the most effective results!
