- the narrator is getting ready to take his friend shilia to a dance and got his boat ready

- What was that??
- The narrator was fishing and caught a fish but was to scared infrount of her he cut the line and let it go
- The narrator just adores a girl named Sheila Mant. When he finally gets the courage to go up to her and ask her out on a date to see a band, she says yes. He had really no choice but to take her there in his boat, and brings a fishing pole to fish on the ride there.
- Climax
- Sheila tells the narrator she thinks fishing is stupid. The narrator forgot about the fishing pole he put on the boat. A fish bites the bait and the narrator tries to hide it from Sheila so she doesn't think he is stupid. But, it is the biggest fish he has ever caught, so he doesn't know if he should reel it in or let it go.
- Falling Action
- As the narrator tries to deal with what to do with the fish Sheila starts to hear something. The fish starts swimming ans its so big, pulls the boat backward. Sheila gets Suspicious and asks "Are we moving backward?" The narrator makes up an excuse but it was a close one.
- Resolution
- Once Sheila and the narrator reach their destination, the narrator cuts the line and lets the fish go. He wants Sheila to like him so bad that he gives up the biggest fish he would've ever caught just to impress her.
- Are we there yet?!
- When they arived at the fair, Sheila leaves the narrator for Eric Caswell and leaves in his car. The narrator gets very upset and leaves.
- The narrator and shilia went to the together and danced a couple times but later that night Sheila went home with another guy
- In the end, the narrator regrets his decision of cutting the line. He learns that you should not have to give up something that you love to impress anyone. There will be way more girls, but there won't be another bass that large.
