- By killing his brother King Hamlet, Claudius intervenes the the chain of inheritance, thus intervening the right of primogeniture. Claudius' actions in fratricide goes against the code of honour and community. Ultimately, the courtly culture is undermined as well as loyalty.

- Prince Fortinbras as Prince Hamlet's foil, epitomizes the warrior code by taking on his revenge and following his father's footsteps in retrieving Norway's lost land. Fortinbras represents action whereas Hamlet represents intellectual stagnance. Fortinbras unites his troops to take Poland's patch of barren land.

- Fortinbras would jeopardize the safety of his troops for horrid territory and yet, Hamlet still has not sought to his revenge. Hamlet has the most reward for killing Claudius; his revenge is not weak, but his indecisiveness weakens his revenge ploy and slows his process in doing so.
