Lenin returned to Russia in April after being exiled during the first revolution 2 months before. He became the leader of the radical political party called the Bolsheviks. He gained a lot of support from promising rights for all workers, peasants, and soldiers.

During the July Days, the Bolsheviks tried to start a new revolution by starting a revolt but ultimately failed when the military arrived and ended it. This event led to Lenin going into hiding and other leaders involved with the revolt being arrested.

The Bolsheviks started another revolt known as the Kornilov Revolt a couple of months later in August. This revolt was somewhat successful as the Bolsheviks were able to gain power by interfering with supply lines and troop loyalties, but it ended in another failure. However, the party gained more public support.

More support meant more armed workers, peasants, and soldiers working under the Bolsheviks. The October revolution began and by the end of that month, many members of the provisional government had been arrested by the Bolsheviks.

The revolution was successful for the Bolsheviks and they established a new government. Although it was successful, the new government would cause more problems in Russia.
