The Other Wes Moore Chapter 1 Storyboard

Chapter 1 Wes and Nikki would always play this game together in their living room. Wes would sit in a chair while Nikki deeply inhaled and then blew directly in his face. It always ended with him hitting her in her face. As soon as he swung and connected to her face her his mother walked in and saw whats was going on, and he knew he was busted. His mother yelled at him to get upstairs to his room and he had a blank stare on his face. As he was walking up the stairs he heard his dad tell his mom "Wes needs to learn what is acceptable and what is not!" His dad has been having some problems with his throat and a high fever, and it was not getting any better. He decides to go to the hospital and they check him out and discharge him because they thought it was just him wanting to get some medicine. Then when they got home Wes heard a very loud noise and it was almost like someone fell. He rushed over and saw his father struggling to breath for air. He quickly called his mother over and she performs her version of CPR. They call 9-1-1 and they send a ambulance out to take him to the hospital. As they just took him back to the room, a Emergency Room doctor comes to the waiting room, and he has something very important to tell Joy. That they had lost him and they tried their best to keep him alive. Joy instantly falls to the ground and passes out, and continues to be upset for the next couple of weeks. Wes's mother thought it would be a good idea for him to see his grandmother after all the traumatic events that have taken place. Wes loves going to see his grandma because she makes really good food, has a very nice house, and always gives him love. As they are driving to his grandmother's house, his mother is going over all the rules at her house. They then arrive and enter to her house, where Wes is greeted my his grandmother giving him a very big hug. Wes then looks over to the living room and sees this man sitting on the couch, and he became very confused. Wes then asks who this person is, and his mother responds "meet your father." This scene from Chapter 1 impacts Wes's life forever, and will make a big difference in his future. Not having a dad was a big problem for Wes, he felt very different than any other kid growing up. This led to many poor decisions such as drug dealing, not doing well in school, and eventually led him to the Valley Forge Correctional Center to get help. From there he changed his life and became the person he has always wanted to be. Not having a father had made a big impact on his life, and Wes had made many mistakes along his lifetime.
